A Rating of Five Star Plus If you are buying an apartment, home or property in Ukraine this is THE place to go. I have lived in the US for over 40 years, and Europe for over 32 years. Buying properties in Europe and the US is pretty straightforward. But if you are like me, I am sure you have some reservations when doing business in Ukraine. There is the possibility of corruption, there are a huge amount of documents necessary, there are legal questions, and language plays a significant role. Why the 5+ rating? The staff, and the owner,Valery who graduated from the Police Academy, and is also a Lawyer. The staff speaks excellent English, and with Valery`s background, he knows the law, he knows people and he knows where to get all of the necessary information, and he fully understands the Ukrainian system. We bought a home, outside of Kyiv, which is actually two parcels of land. One with the home and one which is agricultural, which can not be sold to “foreigners”. As my wife is Ukrainian, this is possible, but the house and land are in both names, but the agricultural land is in her name only. All the sale documents were prepared in Ukrainian and English, so you are absolutely assured there are no legal problems. All the documents are also registered online with the government. As a little side note. The real estate agent who showed us this property was adamant that we use his Notary. We refused and said meet us at our Notary. He (the agent) was furious, but I’m positive, the agent's motives were not in our best interest, and we would have been taking a huge risk had we agreed. As a little P.S. The seller, who is quite a wealthy man, and was selling us his summer house, is also now using our Notary as he was so impressed by the quality and integrity of his office.
